3. | Department’s history | In 2015, as a result of merger of the departments “Agrotechnology” and “Land Reclamation, Soil Science and Ecology” of the Institute as part of the department “National Agrarian Scientific-Educational Centre” was created as part of the reorganization of the AEO as part of the department “Agrotechnology, Land Reclamation and Soil Science”. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences A.M.Toktamysov was appointed head of the department. The main and leading research workers of the department are Khasyy Zhamantikov, Kamaldin Shermagambetov and Zhanuzak Baymanov. |
4. | Main directions of research | - Development of regional, resource-saving, environmentally safe and economically efficient technology of crop cultivation;
- Restoration of rice rotation system and introduction of diversification crops into crop rotation;
- Development and introduction of new technology of rice cultivation;
- Conduct systematic research in the field of rice cultivation.
- Adapt and utilise advanced foreign technologies to the local environment.
- Consider ways to improve soil fertility;
- Conducting research on optimising fertiliser delivery system and weed control methods.

5. | Service provided by the department | Development of intensive, energy-consuming technology of rice cultivation and rice crop rotations using mineral and organic fertilisers, biologically active substances and ameliorants; Study of cultivation technology of different rice varieties, cultivated crops, testing of different mineral and organic fertilisers, biopreparations, pesticides (fungicides, herbicides, etc.) and preparation of recommendations for their use; Development of ecologically and economically acceptable water regimes in case of water resources deficit, placement of automatic irrigation devices in rice fields; Formation of rice agro-landscapes adapted to rice farms of Kazakhstan and increase of land use efficiency.

6. | Main achievements | - On the recommendation of the scientists of the department the cultivator-soil loosener KPN-4,0 for the rice field was put into production;
- According to the results of many years of research scientists of the department developed 2 types of biocompost and enzyme-compost organic fertilisers from rice husk and straw compost to improve the condition of rice soil;
- Dolomite flour was prepared from gravel of Karatau rocks, which is used as a soil-improving ameliorant for soil treatment before planting rice;
- An automatic irrigation device for rice fields was invented;
- Drip irrigation system (surface, subsurface and sprinkler) has been developed as one of the current problems in the region.
- Together with scientists of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University he developed a new microfertilizer “Helafos”;
- In co-operation with Japanese scientists he developed a technology of coating or treatment of rice seeds with iron powder and conducted experiments;
A new unmanned agrodrone seeding complex for weed control and biopreparation fertilization in rice fields and rice rotation was launched into production.
